MC5-about time. Kate Bush and Dire Straits also. Bon Jovi-no way not with his clichéd songs.
Now when will Roxy Music ever get considered?

They should have closed the Hall to new entries about 10 years ago.

Now get off my lawn!

LL Cool J has nothing to do with rock 'n' roll.

Old farts abound. I get the feeling some people have never listened to anything new since HS.

Ain't no way no doggerel-spouting (c)rapper should be in a hall of fame for rockers.

I am an old fart who has listened to plenty of music since high school and have played a lot of it, too. Rap/hip hop does not belong in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. It may well deserve a hall of its own, but not this one, which is admittedly pretty flawed at best. There's a narrow window of appreciation and often a lack of historical perspective. Pat Boone, of whom I am not particularly a fan, was a key figure and out-sold Elvis; he is pilloried for plundering r & b, but he opened the door for the real artists and made them a lot of money along the way. The Association deserves recognition for all its hits, a good number of which are harder edged and/or more sophisticated rock than they are ever given credit for ("Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies," "Along Comes Mary," "Six Man Band"). The Vanilla Fudge were the first major heavy band (Led Zeppelin opened for them). Maybe this year the Zombies will get in -- ridiculous that it's taking this long. And the poor choices continue -- where is Weezer, for example? They've been eligible since 2014!
