Good grief. Before I came here I was reading an article about video gaming snobs who criticize people for playing game on the "easy" or "casual" setting.

Why can't people just let everyone enjoy what they enjoy? Some people just have to have someone else to look down on.

Sigh.

This is a magnificent essay. Not that it's going to change my reading habits much (which, in the realm of fiction, have been confined to genre for decades--SF, mystery, some historical...).
