I recall there were three Shaft novels in hardcover -- SHAFT, SHAFT AMONG THE JEWS, and GOODBYE MR.SHAFT -- and three pb originals from Bantam: SHAFT'S CARNIVAL OF KILLERS, SHAFT'S BIG SCORE (movie novelization), and SHAFT HAS A BALL. I've read that somebody else ghosted the pb originals for Ernest Tidyman -- maybe Bill or somebody knows more.

Wow, I never knew Shaft had a book series.

I've heard the same thing, Fred, but I don't know if it's true. I've read only the first book, and that was long ago.
Love it!
