Buck Privates was released 70 years ago today, and blog friend Ivan G. Shreve, Jr., has a dandy essay about the film to commemorate the occasion. Check it out.

I must've watched that film about 30 times growing up. Channel 11 out of NYC always had an Abbott and Costello movie on every Sunday morning in the 70s and 80s. While I've seen a bit of Stooges, about half of the Marx Bros movies and a couple of Laurel and Hardys, I think I've got the Abbott and Costellos memorized.
Great film. My favorite of all the Abbott & Costello movies. Although ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN runs it a close second, probably because that's the first one I ever saw.
