Reality TV: The Bottom of the Barrel? Part 1

Television - ‘The Great Food Truck Race’ - Griddle to the Metal - NYTimes.com: "The show is called “The Great Food Truck Race.” Seven specialty food trucks — home-style Cajun, fine-dining French, pressed sandwiches, Vietnamese banh mis, crepes, hamburgers and banana pudding — will set off on a six-week road trip from Los Angeles to New York, stopping along the way to peddle their grub. The teams who sell the most food advance to the next town; the losers pack up their fryers and head home. As the celebrity chef Tyler Florence, who hosts the show, put it recently, “It’s like ‘Cannonball Run’ with food trucks.”"

Hat tip to Jeff Meyerson.

Dumb, but hardly bottom of the barrel. Not when The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and The Bachelor Pad are on the air.

We are actually seeing a decline in the number of reality competitions series and broadcast network reality shows, at least as far as I can tell.

I mean. Really. No kidding, they had reality shows like MTV REAL WORLD and suddenly they are making shows with any kind of concept, any subject and it's gotten very silly.
