Here's a Thought

The demise or Dorchester as a publisher of mass-market paperbacks means that the books scheduled for the fall won't be appearing. One of them is Quarry's Ex. So the ARC that I have has become an instant collectible.

Hey, there's a book I would like to borrow...

I have one arc for myself.

This isn't how I hoped to get collectible.

That's a thought. I suppose that's definitely one way to look at it.

Oh this really makes me mad.

Hopefully, some other publisher will take up the imprint to keep it alive. Presumably this decision also affects the Gabriel Hunt series?

Five of the six Gabriel Hunt books are already in print. I would guess that Dorchester will release the sixth, HUNT THROUGH NAPOLEON'S WEB, on schedule, but only as an ebook, with possible trade pb publication sometime the following year. This doesn't bother me as much as a similar fate for Hard Case Crime. I'd be delighted to see the Hunt books reissued as a set in trade pb, and don't at all object to people reading the sixth one first as an ebook. Hard Case Crime is different -- there, the physical object is sort of the whole point.

(Thanks Mr. Crider, for the post, and Mr. Collins and Mr. Ardai for other comments) - I love books in the physical form and even so, I think that the QUARRY title will see a later publication. I much prefer books over all the computer files and e-books I've had sent to me and never read...
