BBC News: A lifetime of collecting books has left the writer Howard Jacobson with back injuries, a lack of living space and a sense of sheer pointlessness. But he'd do it all over again.
I have to wonder if the writer ever had sinus or respiratory trouble. Collecting books is one thing; rescuing sodden books from the drains is quite another. Also, I'm wondering if the writer is married and has a family; his collecting seems more an obsession or a mania.
/But, on the other hand, it's still worth collecting books, IMHO.
Ah, the adventurous life of a book collector. I fell down steps carrying a heavy box of books once. Banged up, but got up and continued on. We should all wear T-shirts with an "S" on the front - and put any word that comes to mind with the "S".

The worst of collecting books is when you have to move...man, I hate boxing them all up and then having to re-shelve them.
That's why I'm never moving.
I was in the military for twenty years. We moved a lot. And a few times after retirement. But no more. My next move will be six feet down.
