Back in the '70s, Warner Bros. records sold sampler LPs, 2-record sets with lots of their acts represented. The records didn't cost much more than the postage, and I bought several sets. This song was on one of them, and I loved it. Still do.
That's a great song, and Webb wrote a lot of really good things...I have trouble, though, forgiving him for "MacArthur Park," to which I will not post a link. (It may just be Richard Harris's recording of the song that's the problem...)

Wow--was unfamiliar with this song. It's great!

I can forgive him. But it's a goofy song.
But his biggest hit. A monster record for Richard Harris and, a decade later, for Donna Summer.
/Neither version is all that good, IMHO.
