The short novel version was better I think. But the novel was a masterpiece compared to the movie. Remember it? Here I was all ready for a cool sf adventure movie and then it started and... But zelazny was great.
I remember the movie and my disappointment all too well. Jan-Michael Vincent. Anyway, I agree about Zelazny, a favorite of mine. I liked this book a lot, although I have to agree that the shorter version was superior to it.

Less is more when it comes to DAMNATION ALLEY. I prefer the shorter version.
However, the movie did allow Baird Searles to write his funniest F&SF film column, "The Road to Albany."
