Gerald Kersh is an underrated writer. Harlan Ellison's Introduction is one of the best essays he ever wrote.

Ah, premium redemption stamps, now there's a memory. Sticking those Blue Chip Stamps into the books, then going to the redemption center to pick out some small gadget... The things always seemed to find their way under the car seats (the stamps, not the gadgets).
