I don't know how many Alistair MacLean novels made it to the big screen, but I'll bet that more than half did. "The Guns at Navarone" is still my favorite film from a MacLean novel, but "Ice Station Zebra" is damn good.
I always thought "Athabasca" would make a terrific movie. But it might be too late for these types of adventure stories. A tough sell for today's audiences.
I re-read "Caravan to Vaccares" two or three months ago. Enjoyed it just as much this time as the first. It may be my favorite book by MacLean, possibly because the lead characters have almost a Archie Goodwin/Nero Wolfe relationship.

Even the books are a tough sell these days. Which is a shame.
