I don't have any problem with this list.

The Sons of Katie Elder

Yeah, they should have The Sons of Katie Elder, but there's too many good John Wayne movies for a list of only 10.

I'm would have included The Cowboys instead of the awful The Alamo.
The problem I have with Sons of Katie Elder is the ridiculous age difference between the sons.
Also not a fan of True Grit-Glen Campbell gives probably one of the worst "performances" ever committed to celluloid and Kim Darby is just annoying, although Wayne is good.

I'm not a big John Wayne fan, but when he was at his best--when the script was very good and the direction very good and the supporting case very good--hw made some superior films. I like 6 of these 10 a lot, three of them a little, and I loath The Alamo.

I don't like The Alamo much, and I'm a Texan. But as long as Rio Bravo is on the list, I'm good.

Rio Bravo is probably my favorite Wayne. That or the Searchers. I'm a big fan of what I call the John Wayne/Howard Hawks/Leigh Bracket trilogy: Rio Bravo, Hatari, and El Dorado. Don't bother with Rio Lobo.

THE ALAMO was a waste of my precious youth, and Wayne's overacting in TRUE GRIT is embarrassing today. But he dis some fine emoting in THREE GODFATHERS and the poker game scene in TALL IN THE SADDLE.
