Why Did the Beatles Split Up?

I recently read a review somewhere of the book RECORDING THE BEATLES, by the engineer who worked on their albums from Revolver onwards, and it pretty much agrees with this. John and George were unhappy being Paul's sidemen, but John's drug use and George's insecurity in his musicianship meant that after Brian Epstein died, there was no one else to take the reins.

I wonder if even Epstein could have held things together much longer. It's amazing that some groups can keep on going, like the Rolling Stones.
