It's the same Beacon Books on its weay to becoming Award Books, and always cheap, though by the Award days, not always sleazy...they were publishing GALAXY and its stablemates (the latter rather briefly mostly, even if IF lasted for about five years), and had a few good sf titles and some others to go along with the cheapjack items. No one else, for some reason, did a US paperback of Victor Canning's THE RAINBIRD PATTERN after FAMILY PLOT came out, for example.
