Hm. Well, I haven't seen CAROL yet, and I haven't seen a lot of last year's films yet, but SPOTLIGHT was solid, and, as I've mentioned before, the best of the four films I recall seeing in a cinema this past year. (MAD MAX: THUNDER ROAD, SICARIO and SPY being the others).
And I finally went back to scan the releases for last year, and managed to forget I saw the disappointing AVENGERS sequel and the rather good IT FOLLOWS in theaters as well. IT FOLLOWS was almost better than SPOTLIGHT among the six I saw.
