Yes, because no American has ever been party to any sort of scam.
That was my thought, exactly, Deb. I can't wait to take advantage of this opportunity.
"Gen. Ray" certainly sounds like American to me.
I don't think that "vivid and coherent" were the first words that came to mind.
I'll bet generals write just like that. I loved the "vivid and coherent" comment.
As I used to tell students struggling with compositions, don't select the first words that show up in the Thesaurus.
When I taught high school, long, long ago, I once took a girl's Thesaurus away from her and ripped it apart in front of the class. I have a feeling I'd be fired, sued, and maybe run out of town if I did that today.
I try to be vivid and coherent in my own writing, and yet here the concept appears much to be mocked in belittlingly fashionable manners. Disappointing.
I'll bet in college you ripped Manhattan phone books in half. As for this golden opportunity, you'd be crazy to pass it up.
Those old paperbacks were easy to rip if you went for the spine and ripped from top to bottom.
Bill, Gen. Ray is going to be so disappointed in you for deciding to go public with his 'your eyes only' message. And he seems like such a trustworthy sort.
The "real" General Odierno:

See, I knew this was legit. I'm sorry I went public with it, though. He shouldn't have trusted me.
Deb, retirement must be tough if all you have is 4-star general's pension and free health care for life. Of course he needs Bill's help. Most of us would do anything to help him. Right?
And, Bill, the least you can do is make him a character in your next book...in fact, you could use that email verbatim.
I'd probably get sued for plagiarism. A guy's gotta make a buck where he can, and the general might be willing to go for it.
