That was one trippin' TV show, and indeed, the entire output of Sid and Marty Krofft is more than a little chemically suspect. My general belief is that 98% of entertainment executives during the 1970s were consistently blasted out of their minds on cocaine and LSD. Which would explain a lot of the product.
H.R. Pufnstuf, and Syd & The Sea Monster, and Gigglenort Hotel, and Land of the Lost (some of these were not from Kroft productions) -- except for the show LAND OF THE LOST, I never really watched them. I have actually seen cartoons like FRANKENSTEIN JR & THE IMPOSSIBLES - and that awful SPACE GHOST (I loved it!) - IMPOSSIBLES was "re-made" with characters done as Harlem Globetrotters...!

My kids grew up watching just about every Sid and Marty Krofft show on TV. No wonder they're weird.
I never cared for it, but I was way too old to be the target audience when it came on.
