I must admit that I have never cared for her work. In the first one I read--The Man in the Queue--Grant "solves" the mystery by stereotyping one particular nationality as especially likely to stab people. The other "Grant" books are equally badly reasoned (and in that I include The Daughter of Time). The others all seemed obvious. (But, then, mine is a decidedly minority opinion.)
Oh, and I almost forgot. The two first two books by Nicola Upson (featuring "Josephine Tey" as an amateur sleuth) are, in my opinion, adequate (#1) and dreadful (#2). If you don't mind spoilers: http://wordsmusic-doc.blogspot.com/2011/01/this-entire-post-is-spoiler-so-skip-it.html

I read THE DAUGHTER OF TIME so long ago that I remember very little about it, except that I liked it fairly well.
