Forgotten Hits: THE TOP TEN HITS OF THE '70's

Don Coffin, using BILLBOARD, compiled his own list and linked it in the comment. I'm linking it here to make it more visible.

"Shadow Dancing" was the Andy Gibb song I was referring to when I said I didn't like his music. No way that should have been that high. I'm not surprised at #1 because, like it or not - and I don't know anyone who does, it was a monster hit. But so was "American Pie," which certainly should have been #2.

It's hard to believe "You Light Up My Life" was #1 for so many weeks. Somebody must have liked it.

My guess of "American Pie" ended up at number 3. I totally forgot about YLUML which is a song you NEVER hear on oldies radio.

Thanks, Bill.

Nice typo on Don's list: Disco Lary instead of Disco Lady.

It was a stupid song anyway.

Any decade with a Debbie Boone song at the top is a decade I want to forget.

Jeff, It is little known that after Frank Lary retired from Major League Baseball, he opened a disco club in Detroit, Disco Lary's House of Dance.

Man, Frank Lary was a thorn in the Yankees' side throughout my childhood.
