I am a book hoarder. But I'd venture to say that the measure of diagnosis isn't an arbitrary number of books.
I don't think anyone who has sufficient accessible shelf space for their collection is a hoarder. But anyone who has unaccessible books in boxes, plastic bins, or storage IS a hoarder.
Anyone who, like myself, buys additional reading copies because the copy or copies already owned are lost in the book wormhole is quite clearly a hoarder. And probably beyond help...
This woman sounds more like a Sex in the City character whining about not having enough closet space for all her Jimmy Choo shoes than any genuine book person I've ever known. Art Scott
