Actually, my Dad (Joseph Shallit) starting writing mystery novels in 1947 - the same year that Spillane's first book was published, so there is no way that either the book or the cover was influenced by Spillane.
Thanks for stopping by. The cover's from the '52 edition of the book, and the way it's all set up is sure a lot like the Spillane covers that Signet was doing. I've never seen the cover of the earlier paperbacks of this one.
