Too bad Lionel couldn't play Scrooge as originally planned because of illness. He would have been great. Neat trivia: The Cratchits in this movie version were a real family affair. Gene Lockhart and his real wife played the Cratchit parents with daughter, June, playing (uncredited) one of the Cratchit daughters
