I think it charted in the U.S. around Christmas 1968. For some reason, it and Englebert's LES BICYCLETTES DE BELSIZE stick in my memory from that time, I think because they had heavy radio play during the week I had final exams.

I have a vague recollection of this song. Leapy Lee sure was a character!
