I know for a fact that is L. Ron Hubbard doing e-meter readings on himself.
I don't know who that extremely ugly man is but I have read that story that's mentioned. It takes you from an inoccuous beginning to, fifteen reading- minutes later. slamming you face first into the concrete wall of Hell.
Possibly as good a description of the story as I've ever heard.
