Emerson LaSalle wrote the novelization...in 1965, published by Award in their porn line, with suitable amendments by Ejler Jakobsson. This edition is highly prized, much less common than the Italian translation published the next year. (Though the serialization run of the Italian version in the magazine OGGI is quite a collectable).
As a bonifide Italian I am extremely befuddled why anyone would find Italian Spiderman funny. I found him to be quite normal. In a superhuman sort of way, of course. A bit gaunt, perhaps.

But the smoking adds that rakish element.
