Overlooked Books?

To celebrate the first anniversary of The Rap Sheet, J. Kingston Pierce asked a lot of people this question: What one crime, mystery, or thriller novel do you think has been most unjustly overlooked, criminally forgotten, or underappreciated over the years?

My contribution is in this batch of answers.

I'd vote for Fredric Brown's THE FABULOUS CLIPJOINT.

I'll bet very few readers of this blog have overlooked that one.

Your vote was a total unknown to me. Sounds interesting. Maybe you could get someone to reprint it - Hard Case or Stark House or some such outfit.

As for what I would vote - oh man, there are so many.

As far as I know, Davis wrote only one other book, The Outraged Sect, published by Avon. I just won an eBay bid for a second copy for myself. I was the only bidder.

I love Lionel Davidson and am always amazed he is not better known.

The Rose of Tibet is a long-time favorite of mine.

Having just read my first royalty statement today, I can honestly say mine is seriously overlooked.

Ah, well. Just wait until that second statement. You'll be in Stephen King territory.
