10 Essential Bug Movies

10 bug films with good buzz, bite and hidden meaning | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle: "Entomologists notwithstanding, we're all a little undereducated about 'bugs,' which is probably why they have such a chilling effect in movie theaters, from the brain-eating things in Star Trek II to the roaches of Pacific Heights to the bugs that spew from people's mouths (often corpses) in Indiana Jones movies.

Sometimes these bugs (please know that we're using the term as a catch-all) are just props. Other times, they carry allegorical and metaphorical baggage, as Bug — a chilling post-terrorism tale — does.

Here are 10 essential bug movies (some fun, some creepy) and some explanations (some fun, some creepy) about what great unspoken thing they might represent."

I still haven't recovered from Arachnaphobia. Wait, spiders aren't bugs right? You can tell I wasn't a science major.

Spiders are arachnids. Aren't those just bugs with advanced degrees?

Bug got a pretty crappy review here - they compared Ashley Judd's performance to Faye Dunaway's in Mommie Dearest - and where is the original Fly?

Yes, the original Fly had a much better bite than the Goldblum offering. I also missed Men in Black, alien roaches want to dominate the world . . . does it for me.
