Stanley Fish’s Top 7 Movie Lines of All Time

Stanley Fish’s Top 7 Movie Lines of All Time - The Daily Beast: "Stanley Fish, author of the recently published How to Write a Sentence (And How to Read One), selects his all time favorite lines from these classic films."

    Sorry, Mr. Fish, but

    "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."

    beat everything on your list.

  2. It looks like this guy hasn't seen too many movies. I mean, THE BIG COUNTRY? VERTIGO? "I'm not responsible for what people think"? THAT'S a classic line?

How about "Round up the usual suspects."

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

"I'll make him an offer he can't refuse."

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? Just put your lips together and blow."

    "I bury those cock-a-roaches!"

    "We're not in Kansas anymore."

    "Yo, Adrian!"

I could go on, but you'll notice these lines are so great, I don't even have to list the films they came from. I would advise this guy to add TCM to his cable package.

I also agree with Gar about CHINATOWN.

  3. "Lady, I don't have the time."

    Lee Marvin, THE KILLERS (1964)

  4. "I taught you everything you know. I didn't teach you everything I know."

    "Here's looking at you, kid."

"Would you like the moon, Mary?"

    "I vant to be alone."
