I would argue about the inclusion of Cornwell's Jack the Ripper book. Some of the others listed I know nothing about.
Not on the list, I highly recommend the true crime books by the late Clark Howard: SIX AGAINST THE ROCK, ZEBRA, LOVE'S BLOOD, AMERICAN SATURDAY, and BROTHERS IN BLOOD. Another oldie but goodie that's worth anyone's time is Anthony Boucher's anthology THE POCKET BOOK OF TRUE CRIME.

I second the idea of disregarding that nonsense from Patricia Cornwell.
