I love Jimmy Reed, and this song. When I went off to college, I had a reel-to-reel tape deck, and I had recorded a full hour tape of Reed. I listened to it a LOT.
On April 5, 1968, I flew into DC for a college forensics event. We were pretty much stuck in hotel for two days, as you might imagine. On the Sunday morning, however, things were quiet and I went out and wandered around...stumbled on a record store having a $1 sale and picked up about 20 albums, including 2 by Jimmy Reed (suggested by the store's owner). Wow. Amazing music. Still have them (but the vinyl is hard to get to these days...).
Legend has it that Reed was often so out of it at his recording sessions that his wife had to stand beside him and whisper the words in his ear. Supposedly you can hear her on some records if you listen closely.
