This is only slightly less risible than proposing a child-friendly version of Dr. Seuss. I despise the dumbing-down of anything--including the already-dumb, like Brown's works--for such purposes; the idea should be to raise readers up, not drag writing down. (I have a skinny little book version of such a dumbed-down version of M. R. James's "Number 13" which in its effort to be comprehensible to the ignorant loses the entire point of the story.) Those responsible for such things should be sentenced to a world where the only things to read are Bazooka bubble-gum wrappers and USA TODAY.

What are they going to change to make it "YA"? This is just about where it'll be shelved and labeled. Bah.
Your snarkiness knows no bounds, my friend.
Who, me?
