I recall that when DePalma's movie came out, MAC wrote a detailed pan of the whole enterprise. He'd been offered a chance to do the novelization, but his agent turned it down; later someone sent him Mamet's script, and that triggered the MYSTERY SCENE review, which was the longest MAC ever wrote there.
It was a hard row for Max: he mainly likes DePalma's movies, while disliking Mamet's writing, which you might call a conflict of sorts.
The MENTAL FLOSS post has a link to a Q&A Mamet gave about the movie at a screening in Santa Monica; the write-up is dated in February, which would have been during Max's hospitalization. What Mamet had to say about everything might have worsened his condition.
I'm conflicted as to whether I should send this (or something like it) to MAC's own site, just to check his reaction to it. On the other hand, I'd like to remain his friend ...

Well, #11 hasn't happened...yet.
So you think there's hope?
Where Nic and his constant need for an income stream are concerned, I wouldn't discount the possibility.
Frankly, I'd rather hear Nic saying, "Say hello to my little friend."
Has Max Allan Collins seen this?

He does read the blog, and he might've seen this post. He probably doesn't want to get started on that topic again.
