Variety: Alan Young, who gamely played straight man to a talking horse for five years in classic sitcom “Mr. Ed,” died Thursday at the Motion Picture and Television Home in Woodland Hills, Calif. He was 96.

Noooo! We were just talking about him on George's blog a few weeks back (based on a resemblance to Ted Cruz). We were happy to know he was still alive. RIP Wilbur.
Well, they were right. XM still plays one of his shows now and then, and a few years ago there were several interviews with him. I expect those will be replayed soon.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course...
I remember him best, and with great fondness, as Philby in George Pal's THE TIME MACHINE. Delightful man.
I'm probably the only one who remembers him from radio. He had a great career.
My grandparents listened to Alan Young on the radio when they were children and they often told me how great they thought he was way back then.
