EW.com: Dave Somerville, cofounder of rock & roll group The Diamonds, died Tuesday. He was 81. Someville died from cancer in Santa Barbara, California, according to a statement.
I saw Somerville singing in a doowop concert in Fort Pierce, FL on March 19 while I was down south enjoying spring training baseball. He still had a fine voice. Gene Chandler aka The Duke of Earl was the headliner. The Diamonds and the Crew Cuts were two of my favourite groups because they were Canadian and Little Darlin' has a permanent slot in my Rockola juke box. David Rockola was another Canadian from Virden in my home province of Manitoba.
Somerville performed with the 4 Preps after leaving the Diamonds, and for years now he'd performed with both groups on oldies shows. You're right about his voice. Still great.

Oh, wow, I hate to hear this. LITTLE DARLING was one of my favorite songs by the group.
He was one of the greats, no doubt about it, and he kept working right up until a short while ago.
