I stood about twelve feet from Fabian on a stage where he was performing in Cedar Rapids in 58 or 59 (he came here three or four times). The place was so crowded management put us up there because it was so big. The band was one of Dick Clark's worn out weary underpaid and unenthusiastic combos that traveled for months on buses. I felt sorry for Fabian. He was a good looking kid but not only couldn't he sing (he really was terrible) he had no poise or presence. The vibe was he really didn't want to be there. He did maybe forty-five minutes. I can't remember who preceded him but they were real singers and made him seem all the worse.

What a talent...well, compared to Yoko Ono anyway. Otherwise, I always disliked this song.

I can listen to it all the way through, unlike Yoko's work. Fabian couldn't sing a lick, but he made a few pretty good movies.

The videos of him on American Bandstand show that he wasn't much of a mover, either. A pure creation of his manager.
