McM phases in and out of "literary establishment" prose and does his best (unsuccessfully 8-)) to denigrate what he considers a false Texas mythos, which irritate me. But how can I dislike an author who gave us the Lonesome Dove and really appreciates F. O'Connor and W. Faulkner?

He's irritated me many times, several in this interview, in fact. But I still like many of his novels a great deal.
