FANY (The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry) was strictly a medical outfit when it was founded in 1907 later in service during WWI (there's a first-person account by a member named Pat Beauchamp available on Project Gutenberg).
It was used as a cover for several female operatives during WWII...which puzzles me, as I would have though it a violation of the rules of war to employ a medical unit for such a purpose.
