I see most of the comments in the piece echo my own sentiments: let it alone. I really like the film, have watched it several times. I have it on VHS so I may have to update it to DVD one of these days.
No, no, NO! Don't remake it --- do a sequel! People like me have been waiting for a sequel for years!
