I Remember them Well

Those Aren’t Your Father’s Fireworks: "There were always whispers of more powerful holiday ordinance from the days of yore, though. M-80s. Cherry bombs. Silver salutes. The kind of fireworks that Bart Simpson could throw down a toilet and detonate the whole plumbing system. What happened to these legendarily destructive fireworks, and are they really illegal?"

I remember them well myself. We used M-80s and silver bombs quite frequently as a teenager.

Personally, I always wanted to see the fireworks that Louisa May Alcott wrote about...or Gandalf shot off -- ones that made pictures with the light. Did those fireworks ever exist? If so, were they mostly East Coast, because I don't think I've ever seen any in Texas.

Rie, when I was a kid, the fireworks show at the rodeo in my hometown always ended with a giant American flag. I'm not sure how it was done, but I was impressed.
