| Local News: "A controversy is brewing in Houston as the April 1 deadline approaches for the 2010 Census.
At the center of it all are the tens of thousands of New Orleans residents who relocated to the Bayou City after Hurricane Katrina.
Accurate population counts are critical for the Census, and they mean big money for cities.
But New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin wants Katrina evacuees counted as residents of his city, rather than where they live now."

What a maroon! If he'd done a better job as Mayor maybe they'd be back and New Orleanians!

I live on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain and would like every single person in the New Orleans metro area counted, and even I think this is a dumb idea. After four-and-a-half years, whether they want to be or not, those Katrina evacuees are now Houstonians.
Agreed. There's a new mayor in N. O. now, so maybe things will change for the better. And I believe the city has a football team, too.
Yeah, we had a low-key celebration yesterday when the local team--I think they're called the Saints--had a win in some game they were playing. Nothing too outlandish, wild, or rabelaisian--that wouldn't be in keeping with our calm and sedate New Orleans way.
