I believe "Masque" is widely rated as Corman's best Poe film, but I always thought that the budget limitations were a drawback. And Corman was better at treating "death" as a source of creepy psychological complexes in the other films than as a metaphysical concept in this one. Hazel Court is a definite plus, though.
