TIE is one of my Big Three Color Masterpiece sci fi pics of moviemaking, war of the worlds and forbidden planet being the other two. when you were nine and seeing this in a theater in the fifties it was a mind-opening thrill ride.

You remember correctly. And this was the movie under consideration for MST3K, THE MOVIE.
