McKnight and Whittington both lived in the St. Petersburg, Florida area. As this was McKnight's first novel, I wonder if Whittington advised him during the composition or opened the door for McKnight at Ace Books or both.
McKnight had been a pilot in the military and used that background in several novels including this one. He was also a well-known horse racing handicapper and wrote several popular books on how to win money at the race track.

Haven't read it yet, but I'll get around to it eventually. The flip side looks interesting, too.
Gee, I bought a rubber stamp on eBay that makes the same inscription. The seller was Richard Moore. What a coincidence.
