He almost lost me when he wrote about Cage "jetting" to Europe after he dropped out of college at age 19...that would be in 1931...no jet airplanes...and again "Sarabhai repaid him by teaching him Indian music and philosophy. The lessons would turn Cage into a lifelong follower of Zen Buddhism." Zen originated in China and spread *east* to Japan; it was not much of an influence in India...
But I persevered...and the piece ended up making some useful points...
