We'Verizon seen him play some nastier characters in recent years, as in the Harry Potter movies, but I'll always think of him as Siegfried Farnon.
I hate autocorrect.
Favorite Robert Hardy show:
Hot Metal, a BBC comedy (two series, six episodes each) satirizing the British tabloid press.
Robert Hardy played a dual role:
Terrence "Twiggy" Rathbone, international publishing mogul of dubious ethics.
Russell Spam, managing editor of even more dubious ethics.
(The "resemblance" between these two was a running gag on the series.)
Channel 11, our local PBS station here in Chicago, made a spectacular botch of the presentation; switching time slots, running episodes out of order, and suchlike.
I'm looking for DVDs of this (all-region player at the ready); no luck so far.
He'll always be Siegfried to me. RIP.
