Eyeball Update
Well, I saw the retina specialist, who told me that there are two thread-like veins going into the retina. One takes the blood in, and one takes it out. In my case the one taking it out is partially blocked. The treatment, as I mentioned, is a shot in the eyeball, which I had this morning. The doctor said that my case was more severe than most and that I had a chance of recovering some or none of my vision. He said it’s possible that I’ll be essentially one-eyed from now on. I’d hoped for a better diagnosis, but I’ll deal with this one. Dagnabbit.

A shot in the eyeball! Partial sight to none? That was some shot! (by the way, the thought of a shot to the eyeball? I gasped, covered my mouth with both hands (honestly), covered my eyes, gulped, and tried to imagine you sitting/lying there and watching the needle come at your eye!
Hey, on the optimistic side, you could wear an eye patch and be like the one-eyee, bald VB :)K owner :)
Seriously, prayers for a better than "partial" recovery.
Good grief! Man.....I am sorry.
We want a full recovery, and we want it now.
Barbara sends a big hug.
The ride continues. But you remain on the green side of the ground, which is where we want you.
Due to a birth trauma thing, I've only had one good eye my entire life, so I've never known any other way of being. I'll cross my fingers for a good recovery, Bill....
Dang, I take back that wisecrack from your first eyeball post.
Are these kinds of eye troubles linked to the cancer treatments you are taking?
Supposedly not, Gerard.
Really sympathize with you on the vision troubles. I lost much of the vision in my left eye two years ago, owing to irreparable nerve damage, so I'm essentially one-eyed now myself. Hope your prognosis turns out to be much better.
Went thru eye surgery a couple months back, hope yours goes as well as mine did.
Not sure why, but this is what kept popping into my mind.
I'm hoping for you to come out on the better side of those odds; better yet to completely regain the sight in that eye. Please take care with depth perception stuff, Bill.
Jeff, now I need the one horn. And to be purple.
Here's hoping for as full a recovery as possible!
I'm pulling for a quick recovery but I know you'll handle it well. If Sandy Duncan can make do with sight in only one eye, you can surely do better. Although she probably would be better than you at playing Peter Pan...... All the best, Bill!
Damn! As others have said, hope things go as best they can from here.
I wonder how many here got the allusion of being one-horned and purple.
Bill, you're the best. Stay with us always, one-eyed, or not. You are unique and valued.
Good luck.

Dagnabbit and then some, but better the doc is honest about the prognosis. However it goes, I'm confident that you'll prevail. Bummer nevertheless. (And "bummer" positively dates me as one who got the one-eyed one-horned reference.)
Bugger! Here's to that shot opening that blocked vein again. Strange thing though...totally out of the blue? Stay strong for us Bill
I'm of two minds, Bill. I desperately want you to make a full and complete recovery. On the other hand...Eyepatch! How cool for the next Talk Like a Pirate Day!
This sucks, of course, but if anyone can pull off that eye patch savoir faire, it's you. But if worse comes to worse, can I have your View-Master collection?
Not just Sandy Duncan but Sammy David Jr., Peter Falk and Jack Elam, among others. But let's devoutly hope it doesn't come to that; I'm keeping a good thought.
David Bowie as well.
