Every time I read about some hidden gem in Brooklyn, I'm surprised that hipsters haven't already found it, bought it, gutted it, renovated it, and turned it into an artisanal brewery and flavor-of-the-month hop & barley subscription service.
/OK, joking...but only just.
//Speaking of gems, the TWA terminal at JFK: mid-century jet age design at its finest.
I can't even imagine how much it would cost to restore that building, but it'd probably be worth it. Any one know of a billionaire with time on his or her hands? And a desire to do something useful?
There's one running for president right now, Don. Only two problems: he's probably not a billionaire and he definitely doesn't want to do anything useful.
Politics aside, this is a great place and I'm sorry to see it in such neglected shape. On the other hand, I'm glad there is some restoration going on and that the Park Service runs it. I nominate Jeff Meyerson to run out there and make a report.
Incidentally, whoever wrote this article, it isn't the CONGRESSIONAL Medal of Honor, it's the Medal of Honor, pure and simple. Don Sandstrom used to get really irked about that and I've taken up the banner in his absence.

Well, I was hoping he'd see this and realize what his life's calling really is, Deb.

That irks me, too, Cap'n.
Maybe this place will actually get restored, or at least fixed up some. I agree that Jeff should give us a personal report.
Reporting sucks these days. They said Ali got the "Presidential Medal of Honor" when it was the Medal of Freedom.
