I suspect a fairly large quantity of intoxicants are implicated. And just miles from where my mother-in-law lived...where there were alligators in the lake, but no swamp apes.
Don, she might not have been looking carefully enough.
I don't think she would have *wanted* to look for them. The 'gators were bad enough.
