I Miss the Old Days
The Space Age Never Looked Brighter Than It Did in the Mid-1960s: At the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair, everything was Space Age. From the designs and architecture to the machines and rides, it seemed to everybody that the future was in outer space. Here are some incredible pictures that capture the way we imagined tomorrow — in space.

Nice. I was there several times and remember some of the buildings and rides...not to mention my first-ever Belgian waffle!

The only World Fair I ever attended and I was full of hope.
We all were in those days, I think.
I was there, too. Everybody remembers the Belgian waffles, but somehow I missed them. About all I recall is downing several Guinness at the Irish pub - I'd just turned 18, you see, then drinking ago in NY state.

These photos put me in mind of Donald Fagan's song that goes, "What a beautiful world this would be/What a glorious time to be free"--that great sense of optimism.
