There's that Bruce Willis/Frank Sinatra connection, but I guess you know about that already.

I wonder if you meant THE DETECTIVE or the later sequel. It turned out the name was Det. Joe Leland in each book, I believe.I did read another book - RAINBOW DRIVE - he was a hard-edged style author I think.
Mia Farrow was probably planned to star in THE DETECTIVE, but they divorced and later the casting fell to Lee Remick.Earlier, Remick was in one of her first roles, an excellent movie FACE IN THE CROWD.
